This unique three-day seminar focusing on the use of alternating weights as a freediving method, specifically for spearfishing, has been designed and will be presented by Manolis Giankos, spearfishing instructor, European and world champion in spearfishing. The seminar focuses on learning the different techniques of alternating diving, combining them with hunting techniques for the best overall strategy.
Seminar content:
- Introduction to the use of variable weights: Theoretical approach and basic principles.
- Variable Weight with heavy Belt:
- Relaxation & Breathe Up.
- Equalization
- Equipment usage (spearguns, weight belts, etc.)
- Equipment retrieval and placement
- Special constructions and adaptations
- Equipment maintenance, storage and safety
- Risks and strategies for avoiding them
- Combined hunting techniques with this method
- Variable Weight with Belt Pendulum:
- Similar techniques and topics as above, adapted to this method
- Variable Weight with Quick Release System:
- Similar techniques and topics as above
- Advantages and disadvantages of combinations of techniques. Strategy for selecting a method depending on the situation
- Risks and safety measures
- Conclusions and practical training of techniques
Prerequisites for participation:
To participate in the seminar, you are required to have successfully completed a second level (2**) freediving seminar from recognized schools or instructors. In addition, priority will be given to those who have attended a spearfishing training seminar from the SI educational organization.
